Letterpress Wedding Invitations: Christine + Byron

Christine and Byron are getting married in just a few short weeks and I  had the great joy and honor of working with them on their Letterpress Wedding Invitations.  I had a fantastic time letterpress printing the pieces for her invitation suite and I’m so glad I’m able to share them with you today.  Christine initially contacted me in early January for their October wedding.  She envisioned a very simple design and knew exactly what font she wanted to use.  With that being established, and once I received her preferred wording, we were able to move onto the letterpress printing part of the process fairly quickly.  Without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, here are Christine and Byron’s letterpress cards….

Letterpress Wedding Invitations:

Letterpress Cards:

The pieces that were included in her invitation suite are as follows:

  • 1-color Invitation
  • 1-color Reception cards
  • 1-color Rehearsal Dinner cards
  • 1-color RSVP

These were printed with black ink on our C&P.  The cardstock she chose was our Fluorescent White in 110# which I thought was perfect considering we were using black ink.  It really gave it a nice contrast between the ink and color of the paper.  We also printed Thank You notes for Christine and Byron (not pictured).  The font used for their letterpress cards was Carolyna Pro Black.

I sent the invitations shortly after we finished printing them and she sent me an e-mail to confirm they were received safely.

Letterpress Wedding Invitations: Anny + Robert

I recently shipped out Anny and Robert’s Letterpress Wedding Invitations just last week and I’m so obsessed with them!  Anny contacted me in early March for their October wedding.  They’re getting married at the beautiful Rancho Las Lomas in Silverado, California.  When she contacted me initially, she wanted to incorporate a Chinese character for “double happiness” and peonies onto her letterpress cards.  I’ve printed invitations incorporating this character before and I just love what it stands for!  I was more than happy to accommodate her request.  We decided on a landscape invitation with peonies in the corners and the double happiness in the middle of the text.  She chose a beautiful red/wine color for the peonies, which I hand mixed myself, and opted for black ink for the text.  I was so excited when she mentioned that she wanted edge paint as well and thought the red/wine color would give it a nice, subtle pop of color.

The Letterpress Printing:

The letterpress cards were printed on the Ecru cardstock.  The invitations were printed in the 220# cardstock in 2-colors: black ink and the wine color that I mixed.  The the RSVP  was printed in the 110# cardstock and was a 1-color print.  Both the invitations and RSVP were printed our on C&P.

When she received the invitations, she emailed me these kind words.  I love sharing what our happy brides send over because it always makes my day!

Letterpress Wedding Invitations: Brynn + Robert

I had the great joy of recently working with Brynn and Robert on their Letterpress Wedding Invitations for their May 2014 wedding.  Brynn contacted me in early January and is getting married at the glorious Disney’s Wedding Pavilion in Florida.  When she initially contacted me, she expressed what she was looking for in her invitation suite.  She said, “Overall, we’re looking for a classic design, can be formal, romantic, vintage, Floridian, etc. Our color scheme is light pink, red, white, blue, and gold since our wedding is over Fourth of July weekend. Feel free to play around with the 2-color scheme.”  She also mentioned that they liked bears and had a cute cake topper that consisted of two wedding bears.  Keeping this in mind, I decided to go for a “vintage Disney” look using a blue and gold color combination, wanting to keep it simple and classic.  I also really wanted to incorporate the two bears since it’s just too cute to pass up!

The Letterpress Printing

We printed the letterpress cards using our C&P.  The entire letterpress wedding invitations suite was printed with our Pearl White cardstock, which I feel is a perfect color as it plays into the vintage look we were going for.  The Pearl White just gives it a soft, romantic feel and I thought it tied together nicely with the design.  The two colors we used were Gold and a blue that I mixed to match Pantone 647U.  I absolutely loved the color combination used for this custom design.

The suite consisted of these specific pieces:

  • 2-color invitations on our 220# Pearl White cardstock
  • 2-color RSVP cards on our 110# Pearl White cardstock
  • 2-color additional card (rehearsal breakfast invitations) on our 110# Pearl White cardstock
  • 1-color program on our 110# Pearl White cardstock

I was really excited to ship them out!  I shipped them to her mom in Connecticut so she could  take care of the calligraphy for the envelopes.  I was a little bummed that Brynn and Robert wouldn’t see them in person, but a few days later, she sent me this wonderful follow-up e-mail:

 Hi Elma,

Apologize for the delayed response, but so happy I can say we’ve finally seen the invites!!! My sister just moved to LA and brought some back out here with her.

They are absolutely perfect, and have far exceeded our expectations! We love them and are such fans of your work! You did a great job, we really couldn’t be more pleased with how they turned out!

The note you included was also so thoughtful! Hope we have the opportunity to work with you again in the future!

Best,

Brynn & Robbie

Letterpress Invitations: Andrea + James

I wanted to congratulate the recent newlyweds, Andrea and James, on their wedding over this past weekend and express how honored I am to have been able to print their letterpress invitations.  They tied the knot at the beautiful Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, California on Saturday.  They really lucked out on the weather because it was just perfect here in California, but then again, when is it not?  🙂  I bet their wedding was beautiful and cannot wait to see the photos.

I started working with James in March of this year for their letterpress wedding invitations.  I was able to meet up with both him and Andrea to discuss design options, colors, etc, for the letterpress printing.  They liked the look of square invitations so we decided to go with that along with an RSVP postcard.  Working closely with them both, we opted for 2-colors on their  letterpress invitations and 1-color for the RSVP card.  For the design, they wanted to incorporate floral details in a beautiful lavender color that Andrea picked out with grey text and green edge paint.  I absolutely loved how the lavender floral details printed!

I was really excited for the green edge painting we did for the invitations.  It just gave it that extra pop of color that I absolutely loved.

The letterpress printing was done on our Chandler & Price using our Pearl White cardstock.

I met up with James to deliver the invitations and was sure glad to do so.  I wished Andrea was able to join so I could see her reaction (unfortunately she was stuck at work at the time), but luckily, she was sweet enough to send me an email expressing her excitement for them as well.  I’m glad they were both as pleased with the final product as I was.  Congratulations again to the newlyweds.  May your lives be filled with endless laughter and eternal happiness!

Letterpress Invitations: Allison + Marco

With their wedding quickly approaching (literally in a few days), I really wanted to take the time to showcase Allison and Marco’s letterpress invitations.  Allison and Marco are getting married this Friday at the beautiful Saint Margaret of Antioch Catholic Church in Pearl River, New York.  The reception follows at the picturesque The Rockleigh in New Jersey.

I started working with Allison in early January for their upcoming October 2013 wedding.  For their wedding invitations, she really wanted to incorporate lace details along with wine vines/grapes.  She also sent me a photo of an urn that they’re using for their centerpieces that she wanted to incorporate into the custom letterpress design as well.  We decided to go with a 2-color letterpress invitations design, leaving the vines/grapes detail in a blind impression, giving it a subtle look amongst the elaborate border surrounding it.  The urn, nestled in between the vines, is also in a blind impression.  Because we decided to go with that for those details, I was able to get a deep impression which really showcases the letterpress print so beautifully.

She sent me this stunning image of the church that they’re getting married at and wanted include this in the map design.  Boy, was I excited to print that one!   I just knew the details of that church would print great!  For their response cards, we went with a postcard, which I love.  Their entire Letterpress Wedding Invitations were printed on our Pearl White cardstock in 110#.
