Letterpress Invitations: Elaine + Andrew

I am absolutely swooning over these letterpress invitations we printed for Elaine and Andrew for their special day.  Elaine initially contacted me in early May for her September wedding, which is actually happening this weekend!  Such exciting times it must be for these two love birds.  When we started working together, she described the theme of her wedding and the look she wanted for her letterpress invitations.  They were going for a “vintage 1930’s/1940’s with some Hollywood Regency Style mingled with Art Deco” look, as Elaine described in an e-mail.  Her colors were gold and black, which I thought would print so perfectly together on the letterpress cards.  She also sent over some inspirational photos via Pinterest which definitely helped paint a clearer picture of the look she was going for…and from there, we were able to create a custom design for her and her fiance.

She was sweet enough to send me a photo of how she put everything together.  Absolutely stunning!

Letterpress Cards:

Elaine and Andrew’s letterpress invitations were printed on our Pearl White cardstock, which I thought was a perfect touch to the vintage look they were going for.  The Pearl White is a soft white which is actually one of our most popular cardstocks!  The invitation was printed on the 220# in an A7 size and the RSVP card was on the 110# in a 4 bar size.

Shortly after I sent the invitations, Elaine sent me the most beautiful bouquet of flowers (totally unexpected and unnecessary, but 100% appreciated)!  I e-mailed her right away thanking her for the thoughtfulness and she responded back with this very sweet e-mail!

Hi Elma,

You are so very welcome. I’m thrilled that the flowers conveyed how much gratitude I have for all the time and work you put in to making my wedding invitation so incredibly special. I realize that I wasn’t exactly the easiest bride in the world to please with all of my changes and concerns about getting things right, moving deadlines etc., and I wanted to make sure you know how appreciative I am that you were so patient and helpful in this process. I think flowers are just one of life’s necessary luxuries and every body deserves to be surprised with a bouquet from time to time!

I would be be honored to leave a review for you (I had actually made a note to do so, but hadn’t gotten to it yet). The level of personalization and customer service that you show to clients is so incredibly rare, and so refreshing. I also wanted to commend you on the lovely packaging and note that you sent with my invitations – the whole presentation was so lovely, I felt like a kid at Christmas! 🙂

I would be happy to have you post the invitations on your blog! If you like, I can send photos of the completed suite (with the peach pocket parts etc.) – if you prefer to use your own photos of course, that’s fine too!

Thank you again Elma for your help and your wonderful work.

Thank you, Elaine!  Happy wedding!

Letterpress Invitations: Save the Date

I am currently working with Nicole on her Letterpress Invitations for her upcoming wedding in September, but I wanted to showcase her letterpress Save the Dates we printed for her a few months ago.  She initially contacted me at the end of 2013 for her letterpress cards and I’m so glad we were able to do the letterpress printing for her and her fiance.  I’m honored she wanted to get the rest of her letterpress invitation suite printed through us and I’m having a ton of fun designing it so far.

Letterpress Invitations: Save the Date

Letterpress Printing:

The letterpress printing was done on our C&P (yet again).  🙂  These were printed in our Pearl White cardstock in the 110#.  She wanted to incorporate a New York skyline since the wedding will take place in New York City.  She also wanted to include a little heart right above it which I thought was the cutest touch!  We used our black ink for the text and I hand mixed the blush color for the skyline on the bottom.  I love how soft and romantic this letterpress card looks.

I, of course, sent a follow up e-mail to make sure she received them safely.  She responded with:

Letterpress Wedding Invitations: Brynn + Robert

I had the great joy of recently working with Brynn and Robert on their Letterpress Wedding Invitations for their May 2014 wedding.  Brynn contacted me in early January and is getting married at the glorious Disney’s Wedding Pavilion in Florida.  When she initially contacted me, she expressed what she was looking for in her invitation suite.  She said, “Overall, we’re looking for a classic design, can be formal, romantic, vintage, Floridian, etc. Our color scheme is light pink, red, white, blue, and gold since our wedding is over Fourth of July weekend. Feel free to play around with the 2-color scheme.”  She also mentioned that they liked bears and had a cute cake topper that consisted of two wedding bears.  Keeping this in mind, I decided to go for a “vintage Disney” look using a blue and gold color combination, wanting to keep it simple and classic.  I also really wanted to incorporate the two bears since it’s just too cute to pass up!

The Letterpress Printing

We printed the letterpress cards using our C&P.  The entire letterpress wedding invitations suite was printed with our Pearl White cardstock, which I feel is a perfect color as it plays into the vintage look we were going for.  The Pearl White just gives it a soft, romantic feel and I thought it tied together nicely with the design.  The two colors we used were Gold and a blue that I mixed to match Pantone 647U.  I absolutely loved the color combination used for this custom design.

The suite consisted of these specific pieces:

  • 2-color invitations on our 220# Pearl White cardstock
  • 2-color RSVP cards on our 110# Pearl White cardstock
  • 2-color additional card (rehearsal breakfast invitations) on our 110# Pearl White cardstock
  • 1-color program on our 110# Pearl White cardstock

I was really excited to ship them out!  I shipped them to her mom in Connecticut so she could  take care of the calligraphy for the envelopes.  I was a little bummed that Brynn and Robert wouldn’t see them in person, but a few days later, she sent me this wonderful follow-up e-mail:

 Hi Elma,

Apologize for the delayed response, but so happy I can say we’ve finally seen the invites!!! My sister just moved to LA and brought some back out here with her.

They are absolutely perfect, and have far exceeded our expectations! We love them and are such fans of your work! You did a great job, we really couldn’t be more pleased with how they turned out!

The note you included was also so thoughtful! Hope we have the opportunity to work with you again in the future!

Letterpress Wedding Invitations: Katie + Tyler

I began working with Katie in December of 2013 on her Letterpress Wedding Invitations.  She’s getting married at the beautiful Anne Springs Close Greenway with her reception at The Magnolia Room in South Carolina this coming September.  When she initially contacted me, she told me she wanted a romantic feel to her custom design using the colors: blush and gold.  What a perfect color combination.  It just screamed romance in my eyes!  We incorporated some floral details in the corners to give it that romantic feel as well.  She did mention that she didn’t want it to be “too girly” so with that in mind, I thought using the Georgia font for the first names would make it less “girly,” and using a beautiful script font for their last names would still tie into the romantic look.  I thought having their last names overlap with their first names would be so cool especially with letterpress printing.  I was very pleased with the final product.

The Letterpress Printing

We printed the entire letterpress wedding invitations suite on our C&P.  The invitations, reception card, and RSVP card were all printed on our Pearl White cardstock in the 110#.  I thought the Pearl White was a perfect choice for this custom design as it gave the overall look a sweet, soft, romantic feel.

She followed up with me shortly after she received her invitations with a delightful e-mail!

Letterpress Wedding Invitations: Heather + Malcolm

Heather and Malcolm received their Letterpress Wedding Invitations just last week and I was so excited for them to get it!  So, of course, it was only fitting for me to showcase it on the blog as well.  Heather contacted me in January of this year for their June wedding.  When she contacted me, she mentioned wanting a custom design that was classic and elegant.  They’re getting married in New York so we were able to incorporate some New York design elements into their suite.   The letterpress printing was done on our C&P on our Fluorescent White cardstock; 220# for the  invitations and 110# for the additional pieces.  Heather and Malcolm wanted a 1-color suite and wanted Teal as their main color.  I was really excited to print with this color since I think it’s just absolutely beautiful!  I mixed the ink myself and was very pleased with the overall print.  The details in the skyline and even the symbols for the events came out beautifully.  I really loved how letterpress felt!  I pressed the Letterpress Invitations as deeply as I could; without compromising the cardstock, of course.  This is part of why I love printing with the 220# cardstock.  I love pressing it deep to really showcase the beauty of letterpress!

I was so excited for them to receive their Letterpress Wedding Invitations!

Heather asked me to ship it to her office in New York so I knew she’d see it before Malcolm.  When Malcolm finally saw it, he sent me this:
