Letterpress Baby Shower Invitations: For our baby Mia

With our due date quickly approaching, I wanted to take some time to showcase the letterpress baby shower invitations we did for our baby girl, Mia.  I never imagined that I would be printing baby shower invitations for my own baby and, let me tell you, printing with a belly was quite an interesting experience, to say the least.  Before getting into the printing, here’s a little back story of our pregnancy journey.

I found out I was pregnant in late June, right before a camping trip with a group of friends.  We were supposed to go white water rafting so I just wanted to make sure I was OK to do so before I did anything “crazy.”  The day before we left, I tested and sure enough, there it was. The slightest of the faintest positive there ever was.  I couldn’t believe my eyes so, naturally, I went out and bought more tests to confirm.  All 3 tests were positive so there was no denying it.  Fast forward to present day and here I am currently 35 weeks pregnant with approximately 5 weeks to go before we get to meet our little girl!

Now, onto the letterpress cards.  When I imagine girl things, I see pink, princess, crowns, etc.  I wanted to steer clear from that, yet still wanted a feminine touch to the invitations and the baby shower itself.  I opted for lavender and different variations of purple; still girly, but not “in your face” girly, if that makes sense!  I wanted to keep the cards simple, yet pretty.  Delicate, if you will.  I chose to do a 2-color invitation using Pantone 531 U for the lavender color and gray with a matching lavender envelope.  It was quite surreal to do the printing of these cards for myself, but I really enjoyed doing them because they were mine, for us, for our baby girl.

On top of the invitations, I also printed other cards for the shower.  I thought it would be fun for our friends to leave notes for her and I decided to print a “Wishes for Baby Mia” card that was inspired by Pinterest (of course).  I must say, reading the notes from our dear friends for our little girl made me laugh and cry.  Some were so creative and others were very touching.  I’m glad I’ll have these to show her later when she’s older.  She is already so loved!

Alright, now onto the photos!

My sweet, dear friend, Elizabeth, came up with this poem for us for the Diaper Raffle.  Totally adorable.  Major props for her creativity!

Letterpress Printing:

The letterpress baby shower invitations and the Diaper Raffle card was printed on our 110# Fluorescent White cardstock.  All of the pieces were printed on the C&P.  I printed the Wishes for Baby Mia card on our 110# Pearl White cardstock, just to make a bit softer, a bit sweeter. 🙂

Here are some photos from our Baby Shower as well.  What a great day this was. I wouldn’t have changed a single thing about this day.  All the help and love from our family and friends meant the world to me and I’m so grateful to be surrounded by so many amazing people.  Special thanks to Elizabeth, Zan, Julie, and Vasna for decorating and helping put together the most perfect baby shower.

The Knot Best of Weddings 2015

I am so pleased to announce that Simply Letterpressed has been chosen as one of “The Best of The Knot” winners of 2015!  Making this the 3rd year in a row that we’ve been chosen for this award!  I was told that only 2% of The Knot’s vendors won this award for 2015 so I am truly honored to be a part of this.  Thank you to all the 2014 brides that I had the pleasure of working with.  Without you, we wouldn’t be where we are today.  Thank you, thank you, thank you, from the bottom of my heart!  xoxo

Letterpress Wedding Invitations: Anny + Robert

I recently shipped out Anny and Robert’s Letterpress Wedding Invitations just last week and I’m so obsessed with them!  Anny contacted me in early March for their October wedding.  They’re getting married at the beautiful Rancho Las Lomas in Silverado, California.  When she contacted me initially, she wanted to incorporate a Chinese character for “double happiness” and peonies onto her letterpress cards.  I’ve printed invitations incorporating this character before and I just love what it stands for!  I was more than happy to accommodate her request.  We decided on a landscape invitation with peonies in the corners and the double happiness in the middle of the text.  She chose a beautiful red/wine color for the peonies, which I hand mixed myself, and opted for black ink for the text.  I was so excited when she mentioned that she wanted edge paint as well and thought the red/wine color would give it a nice, subtle pop of color.

The Letterpress Printing:

The letterpress cards were printed on the Ecru cardstock.  The invitations were printed in the 220# cardstock in 2-colors: black ink and the wine color that I mixed.  The the RSVP  was printed in the 110# cardstock and was a 1-color print.  Both the invitations and RSVP were printed our on C&P.

When she received the invitations, she emailed me these kind words.  I love sharing what our happy brides send over because it always makes my day!

Letterpress Cards: Birthday

I’ve been meaning to print letterpress cards for different occasions and finally got around to printing birthday cards.  I wanted to create something, I felt, was timeless.  My only dilemma when it came down to the letterpress printing was which color to print these in.  Originally, I was planning on printing them in a light pink color (since pink is one of my favorite colors), however, I already had black ink on the C&P so I figured, let’s see how it looks in classic black.  I printed a few on the Pearl White cardstock and thought it had a vintage feel to it, which of course, I absolutely loved.  I had some extra Fluorescent White cards and decided to print on those, too.  The contrast of the black ink on the bright white paper just looked too good to resist.  I ended up printing a bunch of them on both the Pearl White and Fluorescent White cards.

The letterpress cards shown are in an A6 size and in Fluorescent White

I’ll probably end up printing a few more in light pink…or even lavender…or both!  So many choices!

Prior to printing these birthday cards,  I was printing personalized stationery for my husband and I.  Again, this was something I’ve been meaning to do for quite some time now and just haven’t really found the time to do them until recently.  I’m not quite finished with those yet, but will be sure to post photos when they’re ready!  The stationery is very simple and classic.  I just need to clean the black ink off the C&P and put red ink on to finish them up.  Which is probably something I will do…now.  🙂

Letterpress Wedding Invitations with Pink Edge Paint: Codi+Eric

I had the absolute pleasure of working with Codi on her Letterpress Wedding Invitations. She literally just got them yesterday and I was so excited about them that I really wanted to showcase them on the blog today.  Codi contacted me in October of last year and was interested in a custom letterpress design.  She’s getting married in beautiful Hawaii this coming April and having a reception back at home in Ohio.  We worked on incorporating some tropical type leaves to give it more of that “beachy, fun” vibe.  We decided to do the leaves in a blind print and the text with our silver ink.  The rest of the suite was in the silver ink with the exception of the Accommodations card which was pink (to match the edge paint) and silver.  She also sent me this gorgeous custom monogram that I absolutely fell in love with.  I was excited to see how it would come out in letterpress printing and I was just over the moon with the final product!  So, without further ado, here they are!

Letterpress Wedding Invitations

The letterpress printing was done on my favorite C&P with our beautiful Pearl White cardstock.  The invitations were on the 220# and the accommodations and RSVP was printed on our 110#.

I updated her along the way with how the letterpress printing was going and updated her as much I could regarding her letterpress wedding invitations.  I sent her a few sneak peek because I really couldn’t contain my excitement over them and I just had to share!

I e-mailed her yesterday to make sure they arrived safely and this is what she sent back.  I love these types of e-mails as they truly make my day!
