Denise + Mathew: Elegant Art Deco Letterpress Wedding Invitations

Have you ever had the pleasure of working with someone who you felt like you just clicked right away?  As if you were friends even before working together?  That’s how it was working with Denise on her Letterpress Wedding Invitations.  Her appreciation for paper goods and the art of Letterpress was an added bonus!  To share that same appreciation for something so beautiful was like being on cloud 9.

For her letterpress wedding invitations, we incorporated some beautiful scripts with some fun art deco fonts to help convey the 1920’s theme that she was going for.  We also added a fun border to some of the pieces to help with that as well.  With this design, I thought printing them on our 110# Pearl White cardstock would be perfect; giving them a soft, elegant look and feel to them to tie it all together nicely.

The Letterpress Wedding Invitations:

I had so much printing these and was so thrilled to send them to her.  She was so wonderful by e-mailing me back a few days after sending them out to her guests to tell me how much everyone loved them.  I was beaming with joy and the responses we received totally made me giddy and jumping with joy!

Hi Elma!

I hope you’re doing well!  I wanted to send you a quick update on my end.

The invites FINALLY went out on Monday of this week.  I think I finally started sleeping again once they were in the mail!  🙂  I thought you might like to hear some of the responses I’ve gotten (verbatim!):

“Dude!! Your invitations look amazeballs! *swoon*”

“Dude, your wedding invitations are super nice! Omg letterpress!”

“Sophisticated, modern , yet a bit old fashion! So fun opening all the layers. This is going to be the social event of the summer! Your names both look so strong and artful written out.”

“Love the invitation!!!”

“Love it!!  Looks really lovely sweetie”

“Beautiful, well done!!”

Thank you again for everything, Elma!  I’m trying to think of excuses to work with you again and make amazing letterpress art!  🙂

Letterpress Invitations: Simply Gold

I am obsessed with printing with our gold ink it appears! I can’t stress enough how much I love printing something so simple, yet timeless. It was quite an interesting story on how I was able to work with Susanna on her wedding invitations a few months ago. Apparently Susanna was looking for Letterpress Wedding Invitations and some how found Simply Letterpressed after a few Google searches. Upon looking through the blog and seeing my name, she connected it back to an old high school friend of hers, who she happened to still be friends with on Facebook. It turns out she was friends with my husband. What a small world, right? They went to high school and college together and she now resides in New York. She e-mailed my husband and he got us in touch. She was such a pleasure to work with and I thoroughly enjoyed working on her Letterpress Invitations suite. It just boggles my mind at times at how small this world can be! Social media, too! What a great way to stay connected to everyone you know!

Her invitations were printed on Crane Lettra 220# in Pearl white and the additional Letterpress Cards were printed on 110# in Pearl White.  I’m also obsessed with edge painting.  It just gives it that extra, subtle, pop of wow.

Letterpress Save the Date cards

When it comes to printing stationery for weddings, I love printing Save the Date Announcements Cards!  I feel like it sets the tone for the rest of the letterpress invitation suite.  This gives the guests a glimpse of what’s to come…a teaser, if you will.

Working with Lisette and Kenneth was so much fun!  I had the pleasure of meeting them in person and they are the sweetest couple I ever did meet!  They were so relaxed and were way ahead of the game when it came to their wedding planning; I love that!

Letterpress Save the Date Cards

These were letterpress printed on 110# Pearl White cardstock which is a soft white.  I feel it definitely fits well with the romantic theme of their cards, especially with the pink details.

Lisette and Kenneth also had other pieces printed with us as well (not yet pictured).  Their invitation suite consisted of invitations and RSVP cards.

Whisper the password “Gatsby”

I am so pleased to announce that we’ve recently had the pleasure of working with such a wonderful team of professionals for a fabulous photo shoot. Whitney of Wish Wonder Dream contacted us just a few short months ago to print stationery for the styled photo shoot and we were beyond thrilled to work with her again (we’ve worked with Whitney in the past for our own wedding last year in March).  Whitney teamed up with Amanda Claverie of Rosebud Floral Design and Heidi Ryder of Heidi Ryder Photography to come up with such a wonderful concept: Gatsby Reimagined!  When I saw the word Gatsby, I was sold.  Who doesn’t love this era and style?  I feel like I am somewhat of an old soul so this definitely peaked my interest, to say the least.  She had also mentioned that the photo shoot was going to be held at the LA Athletic Club; my heart just melted.  I was so giddy just imagining how everything was going to look!

The Letterpress Wedding Invitations

She sent over inspirational images and even sketched out some ideas of how she imagined the stationery to look like.  We printed everything on the Ecru White cardstock which I thought was very fitting for the shoot.  The Letterpress Invitations were printed on the 220# Ecru White cardstock which we printed on our wonderful 10×15 Chandler & Price with gold ink.  We printed the additional pieces (menu, RSVP post card, etc) on the 110# Ecru on the Vandercook 4.    The combination of the Ecru cardstock and the gold turned out so beautifully and definitely gave it more of that 1920’s feel.

That’s part of why I am so in love with Letterpress; the technique, the century old machines, the history.

It was so exciting to see everything come together and I’m so thrilled to share these wonderful photos with you.
